Conclusion: Very Happy Review: I was afraid I was taking a chance ordering this camera. On paper it sounded like exactly what I wanted--more than my Sony point-and-shoot, but not as involved as a SLR--but I couldn't find one in a store ANYWHERE just to at least look at it. So I just bit the bullet and ordered it.
The package came in a timely fashion, and I was relieved to find everything in the box that was supposed to be there. The camera took a few days to get the hang of, but I'm just delighted with it now. The high-speed burst lets me get those all-important he-finally-smiled shots of the grandbaby. There are enough settings for me to be able to get specific kinds of shots, but not too many to make it impossibly overwhelming. And you can group often-used settings into several custom settings.
On the down(ish) side, the zoom on the lens does take a little getting used to, but it's ok. And the setting that's supposed to trigger the shutter automatically when the subject smiles doesn't seem to understand baby grins. In fact, the only thing I really don't like is that it seems to require a trip through the menus to add sound to any movies you take. Sound is either on or off (best I can tell), so you either get sound with your stills if you leave it on (memory hog), or no sound with your movies if you take turn it off. Kinda puts a squash on the spontaneous shot.
It does take better shots when there's a lot of light (like outside) than lower-light inside shots. But overall, after 2 months, I'm very happy and have taken some really good pictures with this camera.

Conclusion: Moderately useful accessory kit Review: The camera is superb and I've reviewed that separately.
The battery charger is very necessary as you can go through about 2 or 3 sets of batteries in a day. The tripod and monopod are cheap and plasticky but serviceable (though I haven't had much cause to use them yet). Tabletop tripod is basic but OK. The card reader is essential and seems to work fine. The card carry case is convenient for small items. I've been afraid to sling the case round my neck for carrying the camera, for fear that it would tip and spill the camera on the ground. I don't think it's well designed, but ok for storing accessories in. Lens cleaner and tissue is useful. 2GB card has performed well.
