Review: A great machine. Wish I could use the scanner when it's networked (hence only 4 stars), but it's still a great machine.

Conclusion: Hands down the best printer!!!!

Review: I have been a loyal HP fan for some time but as you often hear from any Hp owner they always tell you that they have owned many HP's. the reason why is because the build quality is crap and is nothing compared to Canon printers and HP's always break or let you down some sort of way or the software is problematic at times.you should only have to buy 1 printer and it should LAST!!!IM very pleased with the canon MX850 its a little bulky but if you have the room its 1 of the best quality printers you will ever own.Very easy to set up took only 10-15 mins.Makes excellent 4x6 glossies,no more going to the photo store and paying someone else to do what you can do at home.print quality is also very good id give it a 8 out of 10 which is practically high quality when compared to a laser printer.its quiet, easy to use and easy to set up ,Fax is user friendly, scanning is near flawless. It takes a little getting used to move around the menu but once you know how to use it ,you will love it.no more HP's for me ever.

Conclusion: Great all around printer!

Review: The printer arrived quickly and was extremley easy to set up. Only had for a couple of weeks so far, but seems to be great. One glitch, 8.5'X11' deafault print setting sometime goes to 4'X6' occasionally. Other than that, it's great and a great value!

Conclusion: Very nice, only a few small complaints

Review: I'll add to this review in the future. I am really happy with the duplex scanning and printing capability, and the photo print quality blows me away.

But for now, two minor annoyances and two tips on dealing with them:

1. The scanning software puts up tons of useless status windows that steal focus from your other apps. To solve this in Vista, download a virtual desktop manager like VirtuaWin and create a rule to place MP Navigator EX on its own virtual desktop. Windows Key + arrow key lets you quickly switch desktops.

2. The scanner ADF output needs a stop to keep paper from being pushed over the side of the unit. I made one out of cardboard and scotch tape that folds down for legal-size scans.

Random info
- upgrading the firmware on the printer is pretty easy
- 25 8.5"x11" photo prints on Canon's Photo Paper Plus Glossy II used up about 30% of the color ink cartridges
- there is a ridiculous 32-character filename length limit on saving scanned images. WHY?
