Conclusion: Great and very useful

Review: Comes in very handy, nice carrying pouch and is high quality. I would spend the extra money for the RS that has more tools if you plan on using this a lot.

Review: Being a carpenter, a tech for my school's theater, a cyclist, and a paintballer this multi-tool is used ALOT. It is by far my most used tool, and I have a full work shop.

Pros:
1. I have been using it for 2 years now and never once had a problem with any of the tools.
2. The pliers are very strong and easy to grip while being used as pliers.
3. The scissors, my most used tool, are still very sharp after years of use. I have used them for cutting gels (for stage lights), paper, tons of plastic bags, finger nails, and MANY more things yet they are still very sharp. Just the other day I very stupidly, while cutting a plastic bag full of screws, ran the scissors into my figure and got a small, but deep cut in my middle finger.
4.The wood saw almost never comes in handy while building (I prefer my larger saws), but still comes in handy. My favorite use was once while paintballing my pants got tangled on a torn bush and I couldn't pull myself free so I used the saw to cut though the bush and free myself without getting shot in the proses.
5.I really like the locking mechanism for the tools, holds strong and easy to release.

Cons:
1.The only straight edged blade is about an inch long, not very useful.
2.Sometimes can feel large on my belt while biking, but the reassurance of having it is great.
3.The file like to get a layer of dirt between the teath, but still works perfectly, just looks dirtiy.

Conclusion: Great tool even better value

Review: Very Important update. I was using the phillips screw driver today and cut myself pretty badly on the file while it was closed. The file has a sharp edge that your thumb can slide over when pushing on the screwdriver. I fixed this by filing down the file. Still love it.

I, like most of the reviewers, own a lot of multi tools. I've been a leatherman fan and still am but this Spirit tool is making me think I need to change that. It feels a little more well built than a leatherman. I know that's not very specific but it just does. I also am surprised by the size. It is clearly longer than a wave or charge but it is slimmer in every other way. I also think the smooth sides is an advantage in your pocket. I don't find it convenient to wear a knife and this one seems to come out of my pocket better. As for the tools. They seem more refined than a leatherman. The edges that should be sharp are really sharp and the ones that should be smooth are. The tools also seem to be made of better steal. The lack of a bit changer as on the wave is a plus and minus. I think it gives the leatherman a little more flexibility but I don't know how many times I couldn't fit the Phillips head on the leatherman into the place were the screw is and had to go get a screwdriver. That will not be as big a problem here. The Phillips is long thin and sturdy. The hacksaw is much better and the files seem sharper, but the diamond file on a leatherman is a good tool I will miss. The scissors are much sturdier and longer and again feel like better steel was used. The lock release is really smooth and you can easily do this one handed. You can't however open the knife without using two hands. This isn't a killer but would have been nice. The blade itself is strange but incredibly sharp and actually great for a lot of things like lunch time activities apple or bread cutting or spreading mayo. I don't find myself stabbing stuff very often so the lack of a point is more odd than missed. The blades design seems very strong and while not made of 134A or some other exotic steel is really great at actually cutting. The pliers are really great. They don't meet until the tip so you can really pinch something that the end something the leatherman is not good at. The other really big plus is the wire cutter is just a little bigger than a wave's and will cut all the way through a wire tie. The leatherman leaves a little nub that I have to cut again. The bottle/can opener is much better. I don't open a lot of cans with my knife but I do find the tool useful for a lot of other things. This one is much stronger and would actually open a can much faster and easier. I broke my leathermans not opening a can but something it should have handled. All and all a great knife and with more tools than a leatherman a better quality feel. Leatherman seems to focus on the steel of the blade and not the tools. I would highly recommend this tool and think its probably the best value. Though I got it on sale for about $50.

Conclusion: Best of two worlds.

Review: Over the last 50 years I have tried every multi-tool that hit the market. Most of the good ones were at least in the $50.00 to $175.00 range. The Leatherman Crunch is a must but I had to carry a Vitorinox Champ the get the other needed tools. This Vitorinox multi-tool has put it all together.
Of course, I carry it along with my Crunch. Ever try to tighten a nut and bolt when you can only secure one side? With these two on my belt I can repair 90% of the every day "fix its" with dragging out my tool box. This is a well thought out, well made tool that is worth every penny and then some. By the way, 26 of those 50 years was in the army and in the boonies.
