The LEICA viewfinder for 21/24/28mm lenses is a universal accessory for the Leica rangefinder system. Besides featuring superlative optical performance, it is extremely practical to use, as the field of view for all three focal lengths can be selected without changing the viewfinder. The all-metal body is robust enough to withstand even toughest professional use.The three focal lengths are conveniently set with a knurled ring that clicks tangibly and audibly into position. The viewfinder's optical system consists of five elements, two of which are moved for the changing of the field of view.Despite being highly suitable for eyeglass wearers (pupil distance 15mm to the last optic surface), the lens features extremely high magnification and therefore good detail rendition. The magnification is 0.42x for the 21mm setting, 0.48x for 24mm and 0.56x for 28mm. If the viewfinder is to be used without eyeglasses, the correction lenses for the Leica M camera can be screwed on to correct vision defects. The eyepiece is rubber-armored to protect the viewer's eyeglasses. The extremely robust body of the viewfinder is made of anodized aluminum. The base of the viewfinder is also aluminum and can be secured to the accessory shoe of the camera with a large clamp screw.
